Now I can't quite put my finger on the reason, but I suspect that there may be the odd cat hair on your quilt

It ain't a quilt till a cat has slept on it.
but at least they USUALLY wait until it's actually quilted! Not necessarily BOUND mind you, but at least quilted LOL
Cat hairs add a layer of insulation. At least that is what I tell myself when I discover fifty of them on my sweater after I get to work...
All this time I just assumed quilts were held together with cat hair.
