Hitting the brakes.

You know that old tale about the tortoise and the hare?

Well, the last couple of days, it may have looked as though I was about ready to be fitted out with long ears and a cotton tail, but while these accoutrements are undoubtedly alluring and frightfully fashionable to the bunny brigade, as of today, I'm back in good 'ole tortoise territory.

Now that the centre part is done, I'm on to the triangles for the border and there are 80 - yes eight-oh, of these units to piece. To give you a sense of scale, the biggest triangle is 6" long and 2" wide.

Foundation piecing is excruciatingly slow not the fastest method around, but it IS extremely accurate for shapes like these long skinnies. We won't speak about the hell that is yet to come: the pulling out of all those crummy bits of paper. If there were just a few units, I would've probably chosen to go with drawing them individually onto interfacing and then I could've left it in there ... but 80 odd? No thank you.

Okay

Aaargh. PLEASE stop revealing these beautiful colour combinations.* I tried quilting, I didn't like it (hundreds of tiny bits of fabric stitched to hundreds of slightly tinier bits of paper), and I stopped. I have too many other things to do to have another thing to do!

What this boils down to is: your quilting is too beautiful for words :-)

* I don't really mean this. I think.

Oh, my goodness. I'd wondered what you were going to put around the border. This is stunning. I wouldn't have thought to combine these colors, and it's a good lesson to me that they're working together so well.

Can't wait to see the finished quilt top!

OMG!!! That's a whole lot of triangles you have going on there. Now that I have a better idea just what is going into this, I'm going to be even more awed by the final product. And I was probably going to be pretty awestruck anyway...

As long as you're not hand sewing them together... Or ARE you??

hand sewing them ? with an end-of-the-month deadline looming ?
No. I' m going as fast as i can. It's just that this bit can't be rushed regardless of how little time I have left.
Sleep? Who needs sleep?

You go, girl. It will be fabulous when it's done. And I find repetitive paper-piecing very meditative - for awhile, anyway.
