... and it's not even that I was in the right place at the right time ... these were destined for the rubbish bin at the Op Shop because 'no one [ else ] would possibly want them' and they were only saved because the 'sorter-outer' knew that I was after old sheet music to chop up and paint over
It just has to make you wonder what other treasures get binned ... and I have to think that if they hadn't been caught up in a much larger lot of sheet music, that they probably would never have even made it as far as being donated.
Most people would [ sensibly ] just toss this lot without a second thought.
Some of the ones containing aboriginal themes are both terribly 'twee' and completely politically incorrect in the 21st century,

Those are some nice pen and inks which would look nice in a chldren's room (instead of the ubiquitous Pooh). What a good find. They closed (or moved and I can't find it) my favorite thrift store. I miss it.
I could look at these pictures forever, I hope you plan on framing them.....so natural and raw, I love them. So happy they fell into your hands.....:-) Hugs
I do wish that I could draw like this...however, different times just wouldn't look the same - or would it? I suppose it would have to be up to my imagination!
I did try line drawing at art school (night) many years ago - it isn't easy!
I love these drawings, they're really beautiful. Lucky you!
I had several books as a child with illustrations like that. They were the sort saved by grandmothers and other family members for the children. I love the whole look of the illustrations. They manage to be simple and very detailed all at the same time...
Excellent find and a great save!!!
Hi, love these... particularly the 2nd illustration with the child in the tree...
my goodness they are just wonderful. I would love them to bits. Lucky you rescued them indeed :)
