  1. Oh how sad and senseless. What a beautiful place it was. I hope that it can be rebuilt.

And when the damage is repaired, maybe the coucil could install a set of good ol' fashioned stocks, so the community could express their opinion of vandals...

  3. I reckon they should be apprenticed to tradesmen to put it all back with no respite till it is done.
    Rotten little so and so's
I ached when I heard it on the news.
Why oh why are we abolishing a good smack on the back of the leg or the rear to small children to teach them that right and wrong have painful consequences.
The consequences for those who do not learn at home are far far worse.

  5. I saw it on the news the other night, breaks your heart doesn't it? Boot camp! We need something to bring some decency and respect back to the younger generation...!

  6. That is terrible...some poeple are so hateful they just can't stand it to see something pretty and undisturbed...it happens here a lot too, maybe not quite to that extend, but I see slats missing from the bridge (torn out and broken) and someone overturned an entire wooden picnic tabel with the attached benches, turned it upside down and burned it in the azalea bushes in the park...there is no respect and pride left in this world...I'm so sorry! Pretty soon we won't be able to have anything nice unless it's bolted down and locked up.

  8. the report just says 'a fountain was knocked over' ... said fountain was a beautiful huge old late victorian work of art, now destroyed by morons

  9. Oh no! When I started reading I thought this was a post about the lake having been drained for the upgrades. Such a senseless waste, even if they build another rotunda and fountain they could never replace what has been destroyed :( Have to wonder what they get out of it.

  10. Oof. And was alcohol involved? News reports here often include that little detail.

    What a shame.

  11. That's horrendous. I'm with Marcie. A stint in the stocks might be in order.

  12. How can you bear it? And do you know what will probably be even harder to bear? The 'wrap over the knuckles' or other paltry punishment that the culprits will receive.

  14. Such a shame that the lake they chose to drive into had already been drained.
