Monday Miscellany

Still no sign of Fred ... and it's not very likely that he would leave Ethel's side, so I'm forced to entertain the idea of FOX, and I'm afraid that idea is just not at all entertaining. At the risk of anthropomorphising what is essentially a bloody chicken, I would have to say that Ethel appears to be missing her man.
and basically because I'm feeling bummed about Fred, you'all are going to have to make do with the bunch of totally unrelated images from the past few days which would, under happier circumstances, have made up a tasty Sunday Salmagundi:
an unseasonal irridescent visitor to the garden
- the huge cherry picker which has been blocking half the main street for the last week or so

as the Post Office gets a fresh face lift - and not before time too ... the accretions of pigeon poop on the top of the tower were threatening to mutate and climb down under their own power.

- Scrumptious fabrics that parted me from my cash at Honeysuckle Patchwork in Bendigo ... those three on the left have DRAGONFLIES on them. I love dragonflies

and speaking of species Odonata,
as I believe we just were
- Sophie overseeing Tara's production of an intricate sock in a gorgeous shiny greeny grey merino/tencel blend called ... yes ... dragonflies - but I cannot for the life of me remember whose yarn ... bad blogger ... bad! ]
As you can see, Soph takes her role as knitting quality control officer and patented yarn tensioning device very seriously, even if it means that poor Tara has to bend herself into some very creative positions in order to keep on knitting

So I guess that there was a connection after all, albeit pretty tenuous, between those last two photos, and maybe we could stretch the insect imagery to include the shiny bug in the first one, but I'm buggered if I can figure out a way to tie the cherry picker into that lot. Three outta four aint too bad!

That is what I was thinking, but I did not like to say the "F" word!

Poor lonely Ethel, I hope she's locked up in case the fox returns. That cherry picker - I shudder to think how much it's costing, and I fear they're going to repaint the PO in the same ghastly mud colour.

Oh dear. We have a red fox that visits every morning shopping for breakfast but we only have squirrels and are not emotionally attached. The little rodents eat all the birdseed!

Poor Ethel.

not 'going to' paint it the same mud colour, Marcie m'dear... HAVE painted it the same mud colour. They're almost finished, and the only difference that I can see is that the crenelations on the tower, that were a cream contrast, are now the same as the rest!

Lovely to see that Sophie comments on the knitting just like Mikey does.
Unfortunately I don't have anyone to take photos.

What a friendly cat - most cats I know run away from strangers. But then, I get the feeling that Tara is not exactly a stranger! Tee-hee!

I was afraid it might have been foxes :( Poor Ethel.

My princess Sophie is such a tart!

btw I have ordered Good Omens (Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchet) off book depository - less than $10 so figured what the hell :) That site is evil though - it has me contemplating getting the Twilight books - all 4 for about $50 as opposed to around $23 each here.

Is it possible to get another mate for Ethel or are they lifetime maters and reject others?

No problem to tie in the cherry picker since you tied in the other three. A cherry picker picks vegetation and you have a beetle on green vegetation so it's all tied up now!

Now, if only they had painted the PO green!

Our cats are not too shy either and will run with the yarn if we're not careful, or get up in our faces as we knit!

blessings and hugs,

marcy

Awwww.... How sad! I hope he turns up! Birds do miss each other. I had a parakeet who got sick and died after three days of struggling. I had put her in a separate cage and when I found her dead, I looked over to the other cage with her offspring and mate and the until then healthy mate had also died.

Anyway, just came over to visit your blog. Very nice! Welcome to the Fiber Focus group!
